SPIE, the International Society of Optics and Photonics, supports and publishes academia and educational pursuits on the topic of Optics, the study of light and interactions between light and matter, and Optical Engineering. One of the largest non-profit international society in the optics community, SPIE was founded in 1955 and is based in Bellingham, WA. With over 17,000 members and a variety of prestigious awards, SPIE brings together the brightest minds and greatest inventors in the field.
SPIE approached us with a dilemma: Mobile traffic wasn’t at expected levels. A large online network such as SPIE’s requires a reliable, easy-to-use website. Without a mobile solution, SPIE’s non-optimized site was slow loading and difficult to navigate on a mobile device, potentially harming recruitment and retention rates. We created a mobile solution that would solve this issue.
SPIE’s mobile traffic has significantly increased since launching their mobile solution six months ago. Mobile registrations increased by 76%, email signups increased by 58%, account creation doubled, and community involvement soared to 300%.
The adaptive mobile solution offers touch optimization, intelligent navigation, streamlined forms, adaptive image resizing, and other cutting edge mobile features.
To streamline the UX and make navigation intuitive, we used touch-friendly fly-in navigation bar and accordion-style dropdown menus throughout.
Easy and intuitive mobile functionality across all mobile platforms supports SPIE goals, without distracting users with a clunky, non-optimized experience.
“We are constantly amazed at the speed and quality of Wompmobile’s responses to any and all of our requests. The technology is great and the team makes it even better.”
– Kevin Probasco, New Media Project Manager SPIE
