We hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and got to thank a Veteran for their service! The WompMobile team escaped to the outdoors to enjoy the beautiful gray skies and rain that Washington provides us.
But when WompMobile plays outside, we don’t mess around! This year we participated in the world-renown, Ski to Sea event in Bellingham. Ski to Sea is a seven sport relay race, including downhill and cross country skiing, road and mountain biking, running, canoeing and kayaking. Participants travel from Mount Baker to the finish line across the Bellingham Bay to Fairhaven, covering a distance of 93.5 miles.
However, continuing our tradition of being a green company, WompMobile joined the car-free division. Which means no cars are allowed for any part of your race day preparation or transportation. We packed our bikes with racks of gear, trailers of gear and even a makeshift canoe trailer… and then rode approximately 200 miles round-trip. This was the first year that the car-free teams had their own division and the 11 teams rocked it.
The WompMobile racers were exhausted but happy to receive 6th place in the car free division and 209th overall! The Womp cheering section also came out to support the racers with our super cool signs.
A big thank you to our teammates and all the volunteers that allow that make this race possible, see you next year!
